From One Direction and Game of Thrones to BAFTA and Grammy award winners– the towns and villages of Worcestershire have been home to a wealth of actors and musicians

1. Robert Plant

As front-man of possibly the most famous rock band in the world – Led Zeppelin – Robert Plant CBE has had a long and successful career in music. The Grammy award-winning musician, who grew up in Kidderminster, will be on a solo tour around the world in 2015.

2. Kit Harrington

You will know Kit as leading-man Jon Snow from hugely popular fantasy drama Game of Thronesseason 5 airs 12 April 2015. Recently the actor, who grew up in Worcester and has also modelled for Jimmy Choo, starred in action-thriller film Spooks: The Greater Good.

3. Trudie Styler

The Bromsgrove born producer and actress is best known for her producer’s role on Guy Ritchie films Lock , Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Trudie has been married for over 20 years to singer Sting, former front-man of rock band The Police.

4. Mark Williams

Famous as Mr Weasley – father to Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films – actor and comedian Mark Williams is also known for starring in BBC comedy The Fast Show. Born in Bromsgrove, Williams plays the title character in BBC show Father Brown in 2015.

5. Harry Styles

Member of One Direction and teen heart-throb, Harry Styles was born in Redditch. Placed 7th in Glamour magazine’s poll of World’s Sexiest Men 2015, Styles and band One Direction will be on their On The Road Again 2015 Tour from February 2015.

6. Chris Tarrant

The presenter of addictive television game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Chris Tarrant, attended the King’s School, Worcester.

7. Alistair McGowan

Evesham-born stand-up comedian and impressionist Alistair McGowan is best know for writing and starring in BAFTA Award-winning BBC comedy The Big Impression.

8. Charles Dance

One of the great British actors, Charles Dance OBE was born in Redditch. Recently he has played the role of Tywin Lannister in HBO drama Game of Thrones – but has starred on screen and stage for four decades.

9. Sam Allardyce

Premiership football manager of West Ham since 2011, Allardyce was born in Dudley, Worcestershire.

10. John Nettles

The Midsummer Murders star and Bergerac actor has lived on the Worcestershire- Warwickshire border for the past 16 years.
